Paul Reid

Artist

Scottish Artist inspired by Greek and Celtic Mythology. I use digital mixed with traditional techniques to produce images in which I try to respect the brutality, amorality and weird surrealism of the original Myths.

When and how did you get into art?

I studied Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College in Dundee, Scotland, and have been a full time artist working and exhibiting since graduating in 1998.

When was your first big breakthrough?

My first big breakthrough was immediately after graduation from Art College. I was featured on the front page and with a lengthy article inside of a very prominent Art Magazine of the time (Art Review- November 1998). My first two solo exhibitions followed in 1999.

What was your favourite project so far?

Whilst I’ve enjoyed taking part in prominent solo and group exhibitions, particularly memorable have been private commissions by the likes of J.K. Rowling and Mark Millar. I was also honoured to be chosen as Official Tour Artist for HRH Prince of Wales tours of Turkey and Jordan in 2004 and of Canada in 2009, producing works inspired by the trips for the Royal Collection.
